A Famous Building

Build a model of a famous building. You can use wood,paper and glue but you mustn't use other things. You have to paint the model. Next class,you must describe your building but it doesn't have to be long.

Musical Instruments

A Short Film

It was a terrible day for Mr and Mrs Lin. The old couple was on holiday at a mountain resort. They were taking a walk in the early afternoon,when suddenly the ground started to shake. In just two minutes,everything changed completely! They were in the middle of a very strong earthquake!

The Lins tried to find some other people first. One by one,they found 23 other people. Many were tourists,young and old. Soon it was dark and it started to rain heavily. Some cried and some lost hope.

' Then Mr Lin and a few young men went back to the ruins to look for food and blankets. They found some,but not enough for everyone. The young people gave theirs to the older ones.

After that,Mr Lin divided the people into five groups. Each group had a leader. He also collected all the mobile phones and made sure each group had one. They used them as flashlights. Every 30 minutes,the group leaders flashed their mobile phones,and the light in the dark rainy night made everyone feel safe.

After twelve hours' walking,they finally got out safely. By then,it was 30 hours after the earthquake. Everyone was tired but they felt lucky because they were part of a special team. This special team gave them hope for life.

Everyone has the right to receive education.
每个人都有接受教育的权利。
During World War Il (1939-1945),a number of the allied governments of European countries met in London to discuss ways of improving education after the war. The idea became very popular and took on a universal aspect. Later,in November 1945,a United Nations conference was held in London to discuss the matter further and the United Nations Educational,Scientific and Cultural Organisation was created. Its mission was to help build peace,wipe out poverty and help countries to develop and communicate through education,science and culture. Since then the organisation has worked to improve education worldwide,believing that it is the key to social and economic development.

Today the organisation has 193 member countries,with its headquarters in Paris It strives to reduce poverty,promote peace and celebrate diversity among the people of the world. It focuses on improving the standard of living in Africa and on reducing inequalities between men and women all over the world,but also does a lot of other work,including wildlife conservation and protecting the cultural heritage.

So far,UNESCO has improved the lives of millions of people across the planet by providing them with education as well as promoting freedom of expression and access to information. It has founded and funded many humanitarian,scientific and cultural projects. It has also helped protect a number of historic monuments and natural habitats,including the Acropolis in Greece,and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. UNESCO is a great example of how people all over the world can work together to improve the standard of living of all our fellow men and women.
