Once upon a time, there lived a king and his queen in a castle.

从前，城堡里住着一位国王和他的王后。

The castle was on the top of a magic mountain.

The king and queen were unhappy because they had no children.

国王和王后并不快乐，因为他们没有孩子。

One night, the queen looked at the moon and the stars.

"Oh, I wish I had a baby!" she thought.

Very soon, the queen gave birth to a daughter.

The king and queen named her Bella.

The king and queen loved Bella very much.

The king had a big party to celebrate Bella's birthday.

They invited many guests to the party.

Four good fairies came, too.

The king and queen showed Bella to their guests.

Now it was time for the four good fairies to give gifts to Bella.

The first fairy said, "Little princess, you will be beautiful.

第一位仙女说，“小公主，你将会很漂亮。”

" The second fairy said, "Little princess,your voice will be sweet."

第二位仙女说，“小公主，你的声音将会很甜美。”

The third fairy said, "Little princess, you will be kind."

第三位仙女说，“小公主，你将会很善良。”

The fourth fairy came forward.

第四位仙女走上前来。

Before she could say anything, a bad fairy came.

她还来不及说些什么，一位坏仙女就来了。

The bad fairy laughed loudly and said, "Now it's my turn to give the little princess a gift.

坏仙女大声地笑着说，“现在该轮到我给小公主送礼物了。

My gift is very different."

我的礼物与众不同哦。”

The bad fairy laughed again.

坏仙女又笑了。

"Listen, everyone," she said.

“大家听着，”她说。

"The princess will be beautiful, sweet and kind.

“公主将会貌美如花、声音甜美、心地善良。

But at midnight on her sixteenth birthday, she will prick her finger on a spindle and die.

但是在她十六岁生日的午夜时分，她会被纺锤刺到手指，然后死去。

All the people in this castle will die, too.

这座城堡里的所有人也都会死去。

Ha, ha, ha, ha!" The bad fairy laughed again and left.

哈，哈，哈，哈！”坏仙女又笑了，然后就离开了。

"Oh no!" said the queen.

“哦，不要啊！”王后说。

She took Bella into her arms and began to cry.

她把贝拉抱在怀里，开始哭了起来。

She said, "Don't cry, my dear queen.

She turned to Bella and said, "Sweet princess, if you prick your finger on the spindle, you will not die.

You will sleep for a hundred years.

Then a handsome prince will come and wake you up."

Then the fairy turned to the king and queen.

She said, "Nobody in this castle will die, either.

They will all sleep until the princess wakes up."

The king and queen thanked the fourth fairy, but they did not want his daughter to sleep for a hundred years.

国王和王后感谢了第四位仙女，但是他们不想让自己的女儿沉睡一百年。

The king asked his servants to burn all the spindles in his castle.

国王让他的仆人们烧光城堡里的所有纺锤。

The servants collected all the spindles, but they did not burn them.

仆人们收集了所有的纺锤，但是却没有烧掉它们。

They put them in a tall tower on the mountain.

他们将那些纺锤放在了山上的一座高塔之内。

Years passed and Princess Bella grew to be a beautiful, sweet and kind young lady.

几年过去了，贝拉公主长成了一位美丽、温柔而又善良的年轻姑娘。

Everybody in the castle liked her.

城堡里的每个人都喜欢她。

On her sixteenth birthday, the king and queen had a big birthday party to celebrate.

在她十六岁生日那天，国王和王后举办了一场盛大的生日宴会来庆祝。

A handsome prince came to the party, too.

一位英俊的王子也来参加了宴会。

He asked Bella, "May I have this dance with you, my lady?"

他向贝拉问道，“我的小姐，我可以和你一起跳这支舞吗？”

"Yes, "said Bella.

“可以，”贝拉说。

The prince and Bella danced happily together.

王子和贝拉一起快乐地跳着舞。

The queen was very happy.

She said to the king, "Look at them!

她对国王说，“看看他们！

They'll make a very good couple."

他们会成为一对佳偶的。”

The king and queen decided to marry Bella to the handsome prince.

国王和王后决定把贝拉嫁给那位英俊的王子。

Bella walked the handsome prince to the gate.

Suddenly Bella saw a light flashing in the tall tower on the mountain.

They shouted, "Sweet princess, don't go.

Bella could not hear the fairies.

She ran towards the light.

她朝着那道光跑去。

The light moved and moved until it came to a spindle.

那道光不断移动，一直到它来到纺锤跟前为止。

Bella reached out her hand to catch the light.

贝拉伸出手要抓住那道光。

Suddenly she pricked her little finger on the spindle.

突然，她被纺锤刺到了小手指。

Bella screamed and fell down to the floor.

贝拉尖叫了一声，然后倒在了地上。

She went into a deep sleep.

她陷入了睡熟当中。

The king and queen ran to the tower.

国王和王后跑向那座塔。

They saw Bella sleeping on the floor.

他们看到睡在地上的贝拉。

Before they could do anything, they fell down and went into a deep sleep, too.

他们还来不及做任何事，便也倒下陷入了熟睡当中。

This long sleep fell upon everyone in the castle.

城堡里的每个人都陷入了这次长睡。

The servants fell asleep.

仆人们睡着了。

The horses in their stalls, the dogs in the yard and the birds on the roof all fell asleep, too.

马厩里的马、院子里的狗和屋顶上的鸟也全都睡着了。

The wind stopped blowing and not a leaf fell from the trees.

风停了，树上没有一片叶子落下。
